A critical part of developing the Interaction Design Language for DirecTV's NextGen products involved understanding how our competitors think through interaction and motion design. To do this, I took video captures of many of our competitors, brought them into After Effects, and created animated wireframes of their core experiences. I also included common interaction patterns across 10-foot, web and mobile, then presented these findings to the entire design team in small groups of 1-2 people, creating a safe setting for all voices to be heard, while getting feedback and sharing ideas.
